Solution

WORKAROUND:
Create the following DWORD key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Symantec\SymVmTools\SymVmToolsDisableRefresh

Set the value to 1.

Note this setting should be removed from 7.6.x VMware Access Host.

For NetBackup 7.x:
Also create the following DWORD key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Symantec\SymVmTools\SymVmToolsRefreshTimeout

Set the value to 4000 decimal for 4 seconds, and increase if 4 seconds is not enough.

Note: Don't no increase drastically as there is no guarantee that VC/ESX will answer especially in small installations when there is nothing to report.

For NetBackup 7.5: (You can use the 7.x registry, or the below registry)
Create the following DWORD key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Veritas\NetBackup\CurrentVersion\Config\BACKUP\refreshtimeout
Set the decimal value to 4 (for 4 seconds).  This can be increased depending on the environment, do not set it too high as it could result in connections sticking around when the should fail.

FIX:
Upgrade to VMware 4.1 or higher

Applies To

vSphere 4.0 or lower environments
