Attempt to create a Recovery Disk for Backup Exec 2014 reports "Cannot mount the windows PE image"

Problem

When creating a Simplified Disaster Recovery disc in Backup Exec 2014 the wizard reports the following error

Error Message

Cannot mount the Windows PE image. You may have insufficient privileges for the staging location:
C\users\%Currentuser%\AppData\Local\Temp\3\SDRStaging. Try a different staging location by changing the value of the registry key 'Software\Symantec\Backup Exec For Windows\Backup Exec\Engine\IDR\Staging Path'

Cause

This may be caused by insufficient priviledges to the user that is currently logged on to the system.

NOTE: Review the dism.log (found in \Windows\Logs\DISM) for a more detailed error code. The following is an example of the error you may see in this log:

[7432] [0x80070522] ImageStubMountDirectory:(296): A required privilege is not held by the client.

[7432] [0x80070522] WIMMountImageHandle:(1061): A required privilege is not held by the client.

 

Error DISM DISM WIM Provider: PID=7432 TID=7788 Failed to mount the image. - CWimImageInfo::Mount(hr:0x80070522) 

Solution

The logged on user is recommended to have explicit "Manage auditing and security log" rights on the backup server.
