Description

After the administrator updates a policy, it is possible that nbpem may not use the updated policy in the highly unlikely event that it has already fetched the policy information during the same second as the notification of a policy update but prior to the update.  This issue was discovered during internal testing but has not been reported in the field.

This issue affects all NetBackup versions prior to 7.7 GA, including NetBackup Appliance versions prior to 2.7.1.

The formal resolution for this issue (Etrack 3856296) is included in the following releases:
  • NetBackup 7.7 GA
  • NetBackup Appliances 2.7.1, expected to be released in the fourth quarter of 2015

NetBackup 7.7 is now available - download information can be found in the Related Articles.

When NetBackup Appliances 2.7.1 is released, please visit the following link for download and README information:

Action Required

Workaround:
Restarting nbpem will ensure the latest policy information has been loaded.  This can most easily be accomplished by stopping and restarting NetBackup.

A hotfix is available for NetBackup 7.6.1.2 and NetBackup Appliances 2.6.1.2 which contains a fix for this issue - please download and apply the appropriate Attachment.
