As of Enterprise Vault 10.0.3, Enterprise Vault uses a process called EVExchangeWebServicesProxy to determine the proxy settings required to access Exchange 2013 and later.

At startup, the EVExchangeWebServicesProxy uses an Exchange auto-discovery request to get the endpoint details to connect to an exchange environment. This information is then passed to the Enterprise Vault Directory database’s ExchangeConnectionPoints table.

The following steps are performed in identifying the version(s) of Exchange:
  • EVExchangeWebServicesProxy process is started by the Enterprise Vault Admin Service.
  • The Task Controller service starts (along with corresponding Exchange-related tasks) .The Task Controller service updates all Exchange connection points to the EVExchangeWebServicesProxy process.
  • The EVExchangeWebServicesProxy performs an Exchange auto-discover request for the system mailbox’s Outlook Anywhere settings
  • Outlook Anywhere settings are stored in the Enterprise Vault Directory database in a new table called ExchangeConnectionPoints

Terms of use for this information are found in Legal Notices.
