Description

The default value for Backup Log is 3 days.  It is recommended to keep this setting at a value close to 3 days.
The Backup Log setting is a little misleading in that it does not control how long useful data that would be used in reports is kept in the OpsCenter database.

Here is what happens:
OpsCenter collects error log data from NetBackup master servers and stores this data in the domain_log table.
Once a day there is a stored procedure that runs which parses through the domain_log data and populates the data OpsCenter wants into other tables, to be used by reports.
Then the data in the domain_log table just sits there until the Backup Log purge setting is reached.  At that time OpsCenter purges the entries from the domain_log table.

So setting the value higher than 3 days only causes the stale domain_log records to be retained, even though they are no longer needed.  These stale records cause the size of the database to grow larger than it needs to be.  This in turn can cause performance degradation over time.

The Data Purge settings are located in the OpsCenter UI under:
Settings - Configuration - Data Purge
