How to get product updates for Veritas System Recovery

Problem

How to obtain the latest update / Service Pack (SP) for Veritas System Recovery (VSR).

Solution

For Veritas System Recovery 18 and later, run Veritas Update to apply the latest Service Pack to an unmanaged VSR client. Information about running Veritas Update may be found in the VSR User's Guide:

For Veritas System Recovery 16, Symantec System Recovery 2013 R2, and earlier, run LiveUpdate to apply the current Service Pack to an unmanaged System Recovery client system unless the computer is running System Recovery 2013 R2.  For System Recovery 2013 R2, LiveUpdate will only install SP3.  To get the the latest update for 2013 R2, which is currently SP6, the update needs to be installed using the separately available Service Pack 6 installer:

NOTE: After May 2, 2018, VSR 16 and earlier versions may no longer receive product updates via Symantec LiveUpdate.  Visit this article periodically to receive the updates manually.

Considerations for updating System Recovery:  

• If the client is managed by System Recovery Management Solution (VSR-MS), apply the update to the VSR-MS system through the Symantec Installation Manager and create a policy to deploy the updates to the managed client systems.
• If the client is in an unmanaged environment and does not have the standalone console/UI installed, download and apply the service pack update manually.  Or from a client system that the standalone console/UI is installed, run LiveUpdate to install the service pack and then redeploy the agent to the remaining clients from this system.
• System Recovery Linux Edition (VSR-L) updated build can be obtained through the Veritas Entitlement Management System (See https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.100040083)
