Problem

When a Point in Time (PIT) configuration is made in BMR it is not able to be edited.  The 'change' item on the right click menu is greyed out.  This occurs for both Bare Metal Restore Clients and Bare Metal Restore VM Conversion Clients.

Cause

Point in Time configurations are specifically designed to restore a machine to exactly how it was at the time of the backup, therefore as per design it is not possible to alter this specific configuration as it would no longer be an accurate reproduction.

However it is possible to make a configuration that is editable and based on this PIT configuration, which is the recommended course of action if you want a restore that is very similar, but not identical, to the original state.

Solution

  1. Create a PIT configuration in the normal way.
  2. Right click on the PIT configuration and select New Client Configuration

  1. Select Copy a Configuration and from the dropdown menu pick the PIT configuration you created in Step 1.

  1. You should now be able to edit this new configuration.
