Solution

If the Backup Exec (BE) System Logon Account (SLA) needs to be changed to update the ID or Password you can use the Edit option.

If the previous password to the SLA is unknown, the SLA must be deleted and recreated.

When deleting the SLA, the user listed as Owner and any users that have the SLA as their Default ID must be logged off of the Backup Exec console and logged out of the local Windows server.

1. Open Task Manager.

2. Under  the Processes tab, select Show processes from all users, then look for BKUPEXEC.exe. There should only be one occurrence for the local console session. If multiple listings are found, end process on all of them and reopen the console.

3. Under the Users tab, make sure all of the other users listed in the warning are logged off.

4. Click on Network > Logon Accounts. Change the Default account to another account. The SLA cannot be deleted when it is the Default account.

5. If the SLA still does not delete, restart all of the Backup Exec services from under Tools > Backup Exec Services > Restart all services.

6. Then try to delete the SLA again. A warning The following users have selected "System Logon Account" as their default logon account. Are you sure you want to delete it? may still appear. Click OK The delete option will be after that prompt. Wait for the console to update, this could take a few minutes.

7. Then recreate the SLA account.
