Centralized retention management
Storing information relevant to your organization
Establish a fundamental foundation for information retention management with Veritas archiving solutions—Enterprise Vault and Enterprise Vault.cloud. Through highly customizable policies, scan applications and automatically migrate information to an archive to support legal, regulatory, or compliance requirements.
Classification with Enterprise Vault supports assigning unique retention to unstructured data—for example, Microsoft Office files—and in the case of Microsoft Exchange email, utilize optional data classification services to filter what is actually retained and tag archived email for faster search or supervisory review. Archiving also provides significant storage predictability by helping organizations reclaim primary storage and keep applications at predictable storage levels on-premises or by leveraging unlimited storage in a cloud archiving service.
- Flexible on-premises, cloud or hybrid deployment options
- Mailbox and journal archiving for Exchange, IBM Domino
- SMTP or IMAP archiving other email platforms
- Support for SharePoint archiving and file systems
- Partner ecosystem for other sources, such as social media

Whether you deploy on-premises with Enterprise Vault, in the cloud with Enterprise Vault.cloud or in a hybrid configuration, our technology is proven, enabling organizations to retain relevant, meaningful information. Veritas is the only vendor to be recognized as a leader in the Gartner “Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Information Archiving,” for 11 consecutive years.
Improve IT operations
Conquer PST files and complement backup
Regain control over PST files by storing them in a purpose-built archive.
If you’re on Office 365 or have imminent plans to migrate email to Exchange Online in the cloud, take advantage of free import of up to 2 gigabytes of legacy PST data per Enterprise Vault.cloud or Enterprise Vault Enhanced.cloud user purchased for the first year of your contracted term. If you’re keeping email on-premises, use advanced migration tools with Enterprise Vault [SA1] to systematically locate and ingest PST files. Centralize pesky PST files in the archive—where they are searchable and discoverable—while still providing seamless access to your end users. Also, remove PST data from primary file system backups, protecting the valuable information within the Veritas archiving solution.
Archiving helps remove stale, not-recently-accessed data from primary applications, such as SharePoint. By doing so, you decrease the storage footprint of these applications, which helps improve both backup and recovery performance. In addition, archiving enables you to utilize your backup solution for its original purpose—protecting your data. Backups are for recovery, archiving is for discovery.

Unstructured data compliance requirements
Both public and private organizations have growing obligations to one or more data regulations.
Data retention requirements for public policy regulations in government agencies and private industries, such as healthcare, pharmaceuticals, energy, transportation, telecom, manufacturing and others. Detailed documentation and information control requirements for public companies from the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission, Sarbanes-Oxley, European market regulators, and rules of other governments. FINRA, Dodd-Frank and European Union regulations for organizations that trade financial instruments or commodity contracts require supervision of employee activity and communications.
Private organizations can benefit from supervising communications in a number of ways. For example, supervising interactions with customers can help managers guide their employees towards higher quality of service. Supervision over internal communications can help expose instances of data leakage, public exposure or inappropriate interactions.

Global data privacy rules are changing
Being prepared brings more benefits
Rules and regulations around how data is captured and used have increased dramatically. The European Union is overhauling its 1995 Data Protection Act with changes that could affect organizations in any global location. Taking proactive Information Governance steps now could improve your risk posture, lower your exposure to potential fines, and innovate your information management operations.
Archiving as a foundation for information governance
Leverage archiving to implement retention management as part of your Information Governance plans. Archiving helps you create automated policies to control retention and expiration, so information is retained for only its meaningful lifecycle, helping reduce business risk and exposure. Utilize classification where available to assign unique retention to information and store only what is required in the archive to help meet legal, regulatory, or compliance requirements.
