Resolution:  If the Enterprise Vault Server that hosts the Vault Store and the SQL Server that hosts the Vault Store DB are different hosts, you have to run a redirected restore of the Vault Store DB by following these steps:
1.- Make sure that the MS SQL Server is configured to allow restores. See Related Documents below.
2.- Make sure that the Master server allows Redirected Restores. Check that install_path\NetBackup\db\altnames\No.Restrictions touch file exists and if not create it.
3.- Stop the Enterprise Vault Services on the Enterprise Vault Server.
4.- From the Master server, launch the "Backup, Archive and Restore" Console and follow these steps:
To restore the Partitions.
  • As Policy type, select "Enterprise Vault".
  • As Source client, select the Enterprise Vault Server that is the Policy Client.
  • As the Destination client, select the Enterprise Vault Server that is the Policy Client.
  • Expand the Vault Store and "All Partitions" and select the Partitions to be restored.
  • Enable "Overwrite existing files".
  • Launch the restore.
To restore the Vault Store DB
  • Select the Enterprise Vault Server that is the Policy Client as the Source Client.
  • Select the SQL Server that hosts the Vault Store DB as the Destination client and click OK.
  • In the Restore selection window, expand the Vault Store and select the Vault Store DB.
  • Launch the restore.
(NOTE! If the backup strategy is based on FULL backups followed by Incremental backups, restore the FULL backup first followed by the corresponding Incremental(s))
5.- After the restore finishes, re-start Enterprise Vault Services.
