Exchange connectors for Exchange Online
An Exchange connector is an interface added and configured in Veritas Alta™ SaaS Protection to establish communication with the Exchange Online of which data needs to be backed up.
It support backup of Exchange Online data, which includes emails, contacts, calendars, events, notes, tasks, and public folders.
Veritas Alta™ SaaS Protection enables you to add Exchange connectors using the Administration portal as well as the Connector service.
Veritas Alta™ SaaS Protection supports the following methods to enter credentials for authentication:
Manual: In the Manual method, you are required to enter the following details:
The URL of the SaaS application that is to be backed up.
Tenant ID, Client ID, and Client Secret.
The above details are generated while adding an application to your Azure tenant for Veritas Alta™ SaaS Protection.
App Registration: With the M365 App Registration method, you can use the applications that Veritas Alta™ SaaS Protection team has provisioned for your tenant. You are not required to maintain and enter credentials manually. It also allows you to self-provision the required number of applications for your tenant. The application will initially be inactive; to activate the application, you must grant the admin consent request.
It supports Client Secrets based authentication.
If you have opted for a fixed license model for your tenant, then the number of users you have opted for gets the backup and restore service from Veritas Alta™ SaaS Protection. A license is consumed from the pool per user's mailbox, shared mailbox, and public folder. If your tenant is configured for a consumption-based license package, the billing will be generated based on the data volume the Veritas Alta™ SaaS Protection supports for backup and restore.
You can add Exchange connectors for the following backup requirements:
Back up mailboxes of all or specific users.
Back up mailboxes of users from a specific domain.
Back up mailboxes of all users, but limit the backup scope.
Back up mailboxes of all or specific groups and Teams.
Back up Public folders.
