Assigning storage tiers to storage

For the cost calculation to work you need to assign the right storage tiers to your locations, content sources and/or content containers.

You can either explicitly assign a storage tier to an entity (location, content source, or content container) or allow it to default to the setting defined for its parent. The storage tier used for an entity's cost calculations is that defined at the lowest level, that is the level closest to the storage.

Information Map uses the following hierarchy to calculate the cost of information:

To assign a storage tier

  1. On the vertical navigation panel in the Information Map application, expand theAdministration section and click Locations, Content Sources, or Content Containers.
  2. From the list select the item you wish to edit, or use the check boxes to select multiple items.
  3. Click Edit and select one of the configured storage tiers, or select Inherit from parent location/content source/use default storage tier setting.
  4. Click Save

Any changes to the storage tier definition can take up to 24 hours to take effect in the cost displayed in the Information Map.

See Configuring storage tiers.
