Connectivity requirements

Internet connectivity is required by both the Information Map application and the Information Map Agent.

Agent Connectivity requirements

If you have specific firewall restrictions you must add exceptions for the ports that the Information Map Agent use. The network requirements for Veritas Information Map are as follows:

US Data Center

External connectivity for the Information Map Agent

  • Ensure that the following URLs are accessible from the Information Map Agent:

    • https://infomap.apps.veritas.com/ (TCP port 443)

You can access this URL from your browser. It displays a page indicating that you need to add your customer identifier to proceed. This means that you have correct connectivity.

    • Veritas Application Portal (TCP port 443)

    • https://infofabric-api.apps.veritas.com (TCP port 443)

The Information Map Agent uses this URL to upload metadata to and download configuration updates from the Information Fabric technology platform.

EMEA Data Center

Ensure that the following URLs are accessible from the Information Map Agent:

Internal connectivity for the Information Map Agent

  • Ensure that you configure the Agent's connectivity to the NetBackup master server(s).

See Configuring access to a NetBackup master server.

  • Ensure that the Information Map Agent has access to TCP port 1556 on any NetBackup master server with which it will communicate.

  • If the NetBackup master server is configured to backup an EMC Isilon file server, ensure the following:

    • .Net Framework 4.5 is installed on the Agent server.

    • Communication to port 8080 is available from the Agent server to discover shares from an EMC Isilon file server.

External connectivity for Information Map application

Internet connectivity is required between the Agent and Information Fabric.

Ensure that the following URLs are accessible from the Information Map Agent:

Note:

No inbound ports in the firewall will need to be opened. The on-premises Information Map Agent communicates outbound on HTTPS port 443. The ports are for internal communication from browser to agent, and thus they must be secured from external access.
