Configuring locations in Information Map

A location in Information Map represents a data center where an Information Map Agent is installed. Each Information Map Agent must be registered against a location. To do so, the data centers' locations must also be added to the Information Map before registering the Agent.

To create a location

  1. On the vertical navigation panel in the Information Map application, expand the Administration section and click Locations.
  2. On the New Location pop-up, enter the following details:
    • Name of the location - Information Map presents a list of options that match the name of the location that you enter. If you select one of the options, Information Map populates the coordinates for the latitude and longitude. These coordinates specify the exact geographical location as represented on the map display.

You can choose to override the auto-populated coordinates.

    • The address information of the location

    • The region of the location

    • The coordinates for the latitude and longitude. These coordinates specify the exact geographical location as represented on the map display.

    • The IP subnet(s) of the Information Map Agent Server within your organization's network.

For automatic mapping of content sources to locations, it is important that you add all IP subnets within a location.

Click Add one to add a subnet. Click Add multiple to type or paste valid IPv4 or IPv6 addresses separated by commas, semi colons, spaces, or carriage returns in the pop-up box.

      Click OK.

  3. Click Save.

The IP subnet(s) are used to determine the location of your servers, based on their IP address(es). If no subnet match can be found then Information Map assumes that your servers are co-located with your Information Map Agents and will display in that location.

Note:

Once you configure a location, it takes up to 24 hours for the location to appear in the Information Map, provided data is collected for that location.
