Registering the Information Map Agent with Information Fabric

The registration step authenticates the Information Map Agent with the Information Fabric technology platform, which enables the exchange of information between the Agent and platform.

During registration, you must also import an existing private and public key pair or generate a new key pair to ensure that the credentials uploaded to the Information Map application are encrypted. Generating a key pair is a one-time exercise for every tenant. Once you generate a key pair, you can use the same key pair to register multiple agents.

Ensure that the location of the Agent is configured in the Information Map application before you start the registration process.

To register the Information Map Agent

  1. At the end of the Information Map Agent installation, select the option to start the registration process. Or browse to https://localhost/infofab/nbuRegistration.jsp to launch the registration wizard.

    Note:

    It is recommended that you use a browser other than Internet Explorer to complete the registration process.

  2. On the registration wizard, click Register this Agent.
  3. On the Keys page, browse to the location of the file containing the key pair, and select the file containing the key pair.
  4. Click Import key and continue.
  5. If you have not already authenticated, click Sign in using Veritas Application Portal.
  6. On the Veritas Application Portal logon page, enter your user credentials and click Sign In.
  7. On the Register page, confirm the details of the Agent, such as the fully qualified domain name, the IP address, and the version.

    If the location information is not populated, select the appropriate location from the Location drop-down.

  8. Click Register this Information Map Agent.
  9. Once the registration is complete, you can edit the default schedule for uploading metadata information to from the Information Fabric collector to Information Map.

    Click Edit the upload schedule for this Agent.

  10. If the registration is unsuccessful for any reason, you are given the option to retry the registration process. Open https://localhost/infofab/nbuRegistrationFailed.jsp to start the registration process again.
