About Salesforce Chatter Archiving
The Salesforce Chatter Archiving service is an add-on feature that lets your organization archive posts from provisioned Chatter accounts. Once your organization configures the service, an archival agent collects Chatter posts and sends them to Enterprise Vault.cloud as message attachments. Items that can be archived include the following:
The first 1,000 characters of a Chatter post
Replies to other Chatter posts
URLs posted to Chatter
Files that are uploaded to Chatter from a local computer or from Salesforce
Private Chatter messages
Chatter posts to a group
Direct posts to other Salesforce users
During the archival process, the archival agent creates messages for each archived Chatter post. The following table shows the information that the archival agent uses for each message component.
Table: Archived chatter message components
This default value is used for all Chatter posts that are sent to Enterprise Vault.cloud.
