"Error 0x0000005D: Your PC needs to restart. Please hold down the power button" when booting the Veritas System Recovery 2013 Recovery Disk (SRD) or Backup Exec 2014 Simplified Disaster Recovery Disk (SDR). If booting the SRD on a VM, the error code is 0x0000260.
The System CPU does not support the NX bit or it is not enabled in BIOS.
Use the Coreinfo command-line utility (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/cc835722) to get the processor information on your system and review PAE, NX, and SSE2 entries in the output list. A supported processor feature will have the * character displayed next to the feature name, and a - character if not supported. If PAE is displayed as not supported in Coreinfo output, or if If PAE is shown as supported, but NX is displayed as not supported in Coreinfo output, your system has a processor that is not PAE-capable, and cannot support NX.
The Veritas System Recovery 2013 Recovery Disk and Backup Exec 2014 Simplified Disaster Recovery Disk are built on WinPE 4.0, which requires a NX-enabled CPU. Thus, the SSR 2013 SRD and BE 2014 SDR is not compatible on these CPU-type systems. It is recommended that SSR 2011 and Backup Exec 2012 or earlier is used on systems that do not support this configuration.
