When backing up Exchange on an SBS 2011 server, the information store backups fail reporting the errors shown below. This happened during both full and incremental backups and as such the second message appear to be misleading.

Issue was reported using RDX storage however may not be specific to RDX

issue was reported on an SBS server that was not configured in English, however again may not be specific to regional configurations

Error Message

V-79-57344-34009 - An error was encountered creating on-disk catalog. If this is an incremental backup, cataloging of the generated media may not work correctly.
