Problem

Domino mailbox databases may fail to be provisioned and the error "the user does not have a Domino mailbox (Wrong MailSystem - 6) is logged in the Provisioning Report.

Error

Unable to provision mailbox for user 'CN=Test User4/O=Veritas' - the user does not have a Domino mailbox (Wrong MailSystem - 6)

Solution

This error occurs if the users in question are not configured to use Domino as their mail system.  This can be verified by logging to Domino Admin Console

1. Open the Person Document and Click on Edit Person.

2. Check the Mail System setting and verify if this is set to a non-Domino mail system.  For example, this may be set to "Other Internet Mail" rather than "Notes" indicating that the user does not have a Domino mailbox database file configured for use.

3. If this setting is configured to be anything other than Notes, or if the Mail File setting is not defined for this user then please consult with your Domino Administrator to determine why this is the case.  If the user does not have a Domino mailbox database file configured, the Provisioning Task will not be able to successfully provision this user.
