GENERAL ERROR: Cannot connect to socket (25) and Backup fails with Status code 58: Can't connect to client.
Error : "Cannot connect to socket (25)"
Backup fails with Status code 58: Can't connect to client.
The problem turned out to be the Windows Firewall Service in Windows 2008 Server.
- <install_path>\Veritas\NetBackup\bin\bpclntcmd from master and client works fine
- netstat -a on client shows, its listening on port 13724 and 13782
- <install_path>\Veritas\NetBackup\bin\admincmd\bptestbpcd fails with "<16>bptestbpcd main: Function ConnectToBPCD(hostname) failed: 25"
- telnet <hostname> 13782 fails with "Connecting To <hostname>...Could not open connection to the host, on port 13782 : Connect failed"
Even though Firewall had been turned off from control panel > Windows Firewall, the Firewall Service must also be stopped for a successful connection.
