Maternity LeaveMaternity leave is the time you take off from work prior to and after the birth of your child. You will likely use a combination of short-term disability (STD), and Veritas Paid Parental Leave during your maternity leave. Short-term disability is designed to provide you with income during the time that you're unable to do your job due to childbirth, or an illness, or injury. Generally it is common for 8-10 weeks of leave to be covered under Veritas' disability policy for pregnancy. This timeframe may be longer if you have a complicated pregnancy and if you have medical certification for additional time off. After the disability period ends, Veritas' Paid Parental Leave provides salary continuation for up to eight weeks to employees to bond with a child within 12 months of the date of the birth, adoption, or placement of the child. If you are eligible to receive any other form of income while on a Veritas Paid Parental Leave, for example, California Paid Family Leave, this leave will supplement that amount so you are receiving 100% of your regular salary while you are out. This will be coordinated with any other leaves you are eligible for through Liberty Mutual. Timeline Graphic: Maternity Leave
