Certain circumstances, known as life events or qualified status changes, allow you to change some of your benefits elections during the plan year.
Status Changes During the Plan Year
Under IRS rules, you may make changes to your benefits during the plan year only if you experience a qualified status change and the changes are consistent with the qualifying event.

Be Aware of the 31-Day Window
For example, if you get married on August 1, you can enroll your new spouse through midnight of August 31. If you miss that deadline, you must wait until Open Enrollment for benefits to start January 1 of the following year.
If you have a qualified status change event, log into the MyVeritasBenefits to make eligible changes to your benefits. Make sure to select the appropriate life event and print a confirmation when you have processed the changes.
The status change event date will always be the benefits effective date. For example, if you have a baby the benefits effective date is the day the baby was born.
Dependent Social Security Numbers (SSNs)
If you are enrolling a newborn child you will not need to add the SSN but once it has been obtained you will need to update it. If your dependent is on a visa and you do not have their SSN yet then you will need to call MyVeritasBenefits to have your dependent added to your account.
MyVeritasBenefits representatives are available by calling 1-844-770-0435 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. CST Monday through Friday.
Changes that affect your payroll deductions generally start within 1 to 2 pay periods after you record the change. Veritas does not take retroactive deductions, nor reimburse you for deductions taken between the period you submit the change and when it becomes part of your payroll records.
Please note: If your status change event occurs on or after December 1 of the current plan year, you will not be allowed to alter your annual FSA election amount for the remainder of the current plan year.
