Solution

This restore issue can be resolved by setting the partition type to "07" for NTFS file system per the following steps:

Step 1.  After booting with the Veritas Recovery Disk (SRD), select the "Utilities" tab.

Step 2.  From the "Support Utilities" menu, select "Partition Table Operation".

Step 3.  Select the physical drive to perform the operation on, and click the mouse on the "Next" tab.

Step 4.  From the four selections displayed under "Partition Table Operations", select "View/Edit" and click the mouse on the "Next" tab.

Step 5.  Set the first partition type to "07" on the top numbered line.   The type can also be set by clicking the mouse on the "Set Type" key and selecting the NTFS file system type "07" from the drop down list of various file system types.

Step 6.  Click the "Next" tab and then on the center dialog box that appears, click the mouse on the "Yes" button.  Click the mouse on the "Finish" button and then click the "Yes" button on the next dialog box that appears to write out the partition information to the drive.

Step 7.  Restore the recovery point image to the partition on the server, per the "Recover", and "Recover My Computer" selections.
