Backup Exec capacity, quantity of licenses or entitlement information does not reflect correctly

Problem

In some circumstances such as Backup Exec capacity, quantity of licenses or entitlement information does not reflect correctly, it may be necessary to find the Veritas License File (SLF) so that it can be be copied or removed from the Backup Exec default location.

Solution

The files are located in :

For Backup Exec 16 (new installation) and later

C:\ProgramData\Veritas Shared\Licenses

For Backup Exec 16 (upgraded) and older

C:\ProgramData\Symantec Shared\Licenses
and
C:\Users\All Users\Symantec Shared\Licenses

To remove the licensing from Backup Exec

  • Cut and Paste the files out of the location to a new folder.
  • Stop and then restart all Backup Exec services.
