Product(s): Backup Exec

Problem

  • Jobs are ending with exception
  • Job selections show fully selected, however SDR light is not light up green, it shows as turned off
  • DR files are not being created in %programdata%Veritas\Backup Exec\SDR\DATA
  • This prevents the ability to do a bare metal recovery using the Simplified Disaster Recovery Disk(SDR), a manual recovery of the server must be performed.

Error Message

Resource \\SERVERNAME\RESOURCE was found in the previous instance of this job, but it is not present in this job.

Cause

This can happen if a folder or other resource has been deleted or is offline during the backup job. This message can also appear if an item has been excluded from a resource in a selection list, for example creating an exclusion for a specific SQL database while selecting the entire SQL resource in a selection list.

Solution

If the resource no longer exists, recreate the backup job.  Run a new backup to ensure Simplified Disaster Recovery is enabled for the server.

This message is expected if the resource has been excluded.
