How to create a new Vault Store Partition in Enterprise Vault (EV).

Solution

A single Vault Store can be divided into a number of partitions, which can be on different Storage Types. As the vault store grows additional partitions can be added to extend the available space.

A vault store can have only one open partition, which is the partition into which all new items are archived. The status of a partition can be changed from Open to Closed or Ready.  It is only possible to have one open Vault Store Partition in each Vault Store.
 

Note: if opening a new open partition and closing the old partition all the task should be in stopped state or the task controller service needs to be stopped. Once the new partition is open restart the task controller service.

Follow the instructions below to create a new partition in an existing vault store:

1. In the Vault Administration Console (VAC), expand the Vault Stores container, right-click the vault store and, on the shortcut menu, click New and then Partition as shown in Figure 1:

2. On the Welcome page, click Next as shown in Figure 2.
 

3. Enter a Name and Description for the new partition and click Next as shown in Figure 4. To enable a partition during creation for Auto Rollover select the option for "Create this new partition" and choose the option of Ready as shown in Figure 4 .

4. Select the Storage Type for the new partition and click Next as shown in Figure 5.

5. Specify the device for the new partition and click Next. The Options for each device will be different depending on what Storage Type chosen in Step 4 as indicated in the following.
