Cause

Troubleshooting:

Please review the article on Status Code 83 in the Related Documents section, and confirm that is not the issue. Then, check the NetBackup Client Service and NetBackup Remote Manager and Monitor Service, to see what Windows account is starting the services.

If the backup is going to a network location on a NAS server, the NetBackup Client Service and NetBackup Remote Manager and Monitor Service needs to start with an account that has access to the network. The Local System account: does not have access to the network (see Figure 1 below).

Solution

Follow the guidance and requirements, as per the following documentation:

  • Reference: Veritas NetBackup™ AdvancedDisk Storage Solutions Guide - Configuring credentials for CIFS storage and disk storage units

For Common Internet File System (CIFS) storage with AdvancedDisk and BasicDisk storage units, the following two NetBackup services on Windows computers require matching account credentials:
    NetBackup Client Service
NetBackup Remote Manager and Monitor Service

For this example:

Change the NetBackup Client Service and NetBackup Remote Manager and Monitor Service to Log on as: an account with network privileges, using the This account: radio button, add credentials, then the stop and restart the services (see Figure 2 below).
