Problem

In rare circumstances, where a 64 bit index volume contains more than 20,000 items with errors, the Index Synchronization Task may only process 20,000 items.  After processing the 20,000 items with errors the task will mark itself as complete, leaving the remainder of the items unprocessed.

Cause

During normal processing of an Indexing Synchronization Task on a 64 bit index volume, the task will process up to 20,000 items with errors then re-queue the task for later processing.  In the case where the task processed the full 20,000 items and the task is re-queued, the task then marks itself as complete on the next pass.

Solution

Work Around:

1. Re-create the Index Synchronization task every 20,000 items and repeat until all items with errors have been processed.

OR

2. Rebuild the index, in many cases where the are more than 20,000 items with errors it may be faster to rebuild the index than to re-create the Index Synchronization task.
