Bare Metal Restore (BMR) enabled backup job: Errors were encountered while discovering disk configuration.

Problem

Bare Metal Restore enabled backup jobs for Microsoft Windows client completes with status partially successful with the Job Details indicating "Errors were encountered while discovering disk configuration" The client bmrsavecfg (OID 121) log shows "Did not find the system volume even with alternative flags."

Cause

Windows clients with their system partition (volume hosting the operating system) configured as a non-active partition, will not be recognized by Bare Metal Restore (BMR) as a System partition, preventing the system details from being collected at backup time.

Solution

The behavior is by design. Bare Metal Restore (BMR) is designed to recognize the client's system partition as a visible active partition, anything less will not be recognized as a supported configuration.
