Solution

Do not select IPv4 in the property of a backup job which uses the client-side deduplication.

Please note that the specified network Interface in the property of a backup job is effective for the Network Data Management Protocol (NDMP) which is used between Backup Exec Job Engine and Remote Agent. The network is not effective for the direct access between Backup Exec Remote Agent and the deduplication storage device. Please use hosts file to select a network interface for the direct access.

Applies To

Backup Exec Deduplication option

Any Backup Exec Agents with GRT except VMware Agent.

Note: Because VMware Agent works on the Backup Exec server, the direct access and client-side deduplication would not work.
