Problem

Unable to create Deduplication Storage folder on a specific drive, gives error "V-287-40960-39685 - Unable to create a deduplication store".

Error Message

Pdde-config log from <Dedup storage>/log shows :

An error occured while creating Deduplication storage folder.
From pdde-config log, ERR: "D:\BackupExec\databases\pddb\data"\pg_hba.conf does not exist.  PostgreSQL may not have been initialized properly.
An error has occured while attempting to configure.  Aborting...

 

Cause

This error occurs only on a specific drive while creating Deduplication storage folder.

Solution

1. Make sure the drive has complete permissions to create the Deduplication storage on the selected volume.

2. If it is Windows server 2008, make sure User Access Control (UAC) is disabled.

3. Try to create the Deduplication Storage folder on a different drive. If it is successful, it could be a problem with the drive.

4. Format the drive which has issues and try to recreate the deduplication folder again.
