Problem

How to configure OpsCenter to send email.

Solution

To configure OpsCenter for sending email complete the following steps:

1.)  Log onto the OpsCenter web console.


2.)  Browse to Settings - Configuration - SMTP Server
See Image 1 below.


3.)  Enter SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) information
 a.)  Configure the following required fields:
    SMTP Server Name:  This is the name of the SMTP host.
    SMTP Server Port:  This is the SMTP port number.
    Sender Email Address:  This is the name that is associated with the email ID.
 b.)  Optionally configure the following fields:
    Sender Display Name:  This is the email address used for any replies to alerts or reports.
    Server User Name:  This is the user name to be used for SMTP servers that require credentials to send email.
    Server User Password:  This is the password to be used for SMTP servers that require credentials to send email.
 c.)  Click the Save button to save the settings.

4.)  Optionally configure SMTP recipients.
Note:  It is not required to add email recipients to be able to send emails and alerts.  The addresses can be manually added in the reports and alert policies.  

 a.)  Browse to Settings - Recipients - Email.
 b.)  Click the Add button to add new email recipients.  
 c.)  Enter the Email Recipient Name.
 d.)  Enter the Email Address.
 e.)  Optionally enter a Description and delivery limit information.
 f.)  Click the Save button to save the settings.

Note:  OpsCenter does not require an email program, such as blat, to send email.
