Encountering the same issue here. Win 2008 64 bit Standard with an attached robotic library.
Trying the Pause and unPause does not work. Forcing 'online' works for less than two seconds then goes back to offline.
Solution marked.
Created a pre.bat with: net stop dfs & net stop dfsr
Created a post.bat with: net start dfs & net start dfsr
Added each into their respective areas in the task. All is working fine.
A solution came up, which doesn't require uninstalling SP2 and reinstalling SP1 which most have advised.
While the problem comes from a vss writers issue, there's nothing in vssadmin which shows an issue. The problem seems to come from DFS.
