This issue has been addressed with a Hotfix

Please use Live Update and Install SP1a. It has the following Issues fixed (the crash Issue after Installing SP1 have also been resolved)

Not sure about the bengine crash that you are seing. I would recommend to enable full dump

Open cmd and change dir to BE Install Path. Execute bedbg.exe --type 2 an rerun the job which produces the crash. Open a ticket woth tech support to get this looked.

I saw this behavior while testing BUE 2012 when trying to backup via vCenter 5. It was more then just BEServer service though, the Job Engine service also crashed. I uninstalled SP1 and reconfigured BUE and attached vCenter and tested with no problems. I have since re-installed SP1 and am now testing once again to see if the services crashes.
