Unable to detect Oracle instance in Linux server

Hi all,

I am having an issue with my Linux Backup Exec clients. Below are some background info.

DB is Oracle 12c (12.1.3) on RedHat Enterprise 6

When configuring RALUS, the agent cannot detect any instance after I select 1.

Configuring the Oracle Agent
Choose one of the following options:
1. Add a new Oracle instance to protect
2. Edit an existing Oracle instance
3. Delete an existing Oracle instance
4. View Oracle instance entries that have been added in the Remote Agent Utility
5. Quit

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

...do you have the relevant Oracle agent license installed on the media server? If not, then you won't see the Oracle DBs and you need to purchase the required license from a reseller or Veritas directly.

Thanks!

Hi Craig,

Yes I have the database license, I should add that there are two Oracle servers. One is production and the other development.

In the development server, the agent is able to see one instance (DEV). But according to the developer that is not the instance used.

I am trying to backup my customer's server and I have no communication channel with their developers.

I have to pass all my queries to the customer and they in turn pass to their developer. Don't ask me why.

According to the developer there are one instance in Production (PROD) and two instance (PREPROD and UAT) in development.

All these three instances cannot be found, but the agent found DEV instance. I tried adding it manually but unsuccessful.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

...any firewall installed? If so, drop it and see if this helps.

Thanks!

Hi,

It is not running RAC according to the developer.

Or you mean must have SYSBACKUP privileges? This I am not too sure.

Thanks.

Hi,

Not yet. I will ask the developer to create it.

Will let you guys know the results tomorrow.

Thanks.

The agent is local and so is the database.

Anyway, I have whitelisted the backup server in the firewall.
