Strange VMWare backup problem

Hi,

I am currently using NBU VIP for backing up my VMware clients using NBU v7.5.0.6 onto an HP B6200 StoreOnce using OST, all my clients backup successfully apart from three VMware ones which fail with a media write error, these clients complete successfully if I back them up to na EML or an MSL but as soon as I put them to the OST disk they fail after the snapshot is created.

below is the output from the activity monitor.

My guess is that the SOt you are using does not support that client name so cannot write it to its file system - maybe try using the display name or host name instead - but that is one strange client name:

lonbfbvappcloud1%20(13e1a03a-197e-4fd1-9c7f-c5590999b834)

Do you have the right vmware tools installed. What does the bpfis log show?

Hi Mark,

Looks like you have hit the nail on the head, I got the VMWare admins to rename one to test and they removed everything in the brackets and this now works, the name shown was the Displayname and there was hostname was blank, I have now excluded them from the VIP until such time that the VM Admins correct these.

Many thanks for the quick response, Have a great Christmas
