Restoring Incremental Backup Files/Folders Only

Rainel

Hello!!

Let say I run full backup of files using windows agents from the servers then on the next night it runs an incremental backup.

Is there a way to restore the files/folders affected only by the incremental backup, I mean the newer files only to the original storage by not pointing one by one on what folders/files to be selected for restoration?

Coz now I'm using third party softwares only to copy the newer files to the original storage. If BE15 has this functionality can you enlighten me to any procedures or tutorials smiley

Really appreciate anyone's help.

Rainel

Sorry. It is the Restore over existing files option (see below).  You will see this option further in the wizard dialog

You can use the Restore if Newer option in the restore job.

Hi pkh!

When Restore Wizard options will pop-up all i can see are:

File and folder backups to a point-in-time

File and folder backups from a backup set

Files and folders located through Search

Then when restoring full backup i usually used the first option.

The "... from a backup set" choice  should show you (and restore) only the incremental information the "Point in time"  option is a 'synthetic' view that includes all the file content back to the full and will correctly re-assemble the data you select for you (during the restore as long as all the backup media is available)

As an side this is a massive enhancement over 2012 which only had the point in time view, and also a massive enhancement over 2010 where to restore the full-incremental chain you would have had to create lots of separate jobs.
