Move Archive between domains

Davey7

Hello,

I have an odd situation.

I have a domain(A) where we have EV 10.0.4. On the other domain(B), we are implementing EV (it's in test phase).

I have a user who got transferred from domain A to B, currently his mailbox and archive still resides in domain A.

What is the best approach to move this user completely?

Move his archive first with the move archive function, then move the mailbox (disconnect then reconnect to the domain B AD account)?

Currently he has no archive in domain B. At which point should I add his account to the provisioning groups? Do I have to manually connect his mailbox to the moved archive? What steps do I have to take?

Thank you in advance,

David

Depends on your requirements there are different things to do.

Are those servers in seperate networks?

The easiest way for a migration would probably be a third party tool like TransVault. But you need to meet specific prereqs before.

Normally you need an AD Account in Domain B create an mailbox then activate the mailbox for archiving (creating archive for user) and then migrate the files to that archive.

the provisioning groups are there to have targets for your policies (desktop,mailbox,pst...) you need the provisioning task when you have the new domain active and running and all maildata has been migrated. So automaticall processes will run.

But the process can be more complex, depending on requirements, maybe you should contact a veritas partner to elaborate any further.

To add to CConsult...

If you have a small number of archives and/or data to migrate from old EV site to new EV site, you can use the Move Archive tool native to EV.

Here is a good whitepaper outlining the process - https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.TECH129236

and Chapter 3 of the EV 11 Admin Guide has a section about the Move Archive tool as well.

If there is a large amount of data to migrate, a 3rd party migration tool is suited for such an effort, reducing time and effort.
