bpplclients: premature eof encountered

Trying to run the command below.  It works for some masters, but not others.  Running it from a 7104 master and connecting to a mix of 7104 and 7506 masters.  Fails and succeeds on both versions.  Any help would be appreciated.

bpplclients -allunique -M MASTER -v

I would rather run the command from a 7.5 server to 7.5 and 7.1 masters.

Chances are that the 7.5 master will respond to command run on itself or from another 7.5 server, provided that it has a SERVER entry from the machine where command is run from.
