Backup exec 2012 vs Backup exec 2015 GRT Restore

Hi

We were using backup exec 2012 on Hyper v Virtual Machines and we could complete GRT restores of our exchange and Database servers by staging the restores onto the Backup server E drive with around 270gb free. The exchange server has 2 vhd disk with C drive 140gb and D drive 280gb. The exchange DB is on the drive with size of 280gb. This server has dynamic VHD disk and has not expanded to even 70% of allocated size. The Database servers have 4 fixed sized VHD disc with C drive 80gb, D drive 100gb, E drive 200gb and F drive 100gb. The DB servers total to raw data of 480gb each during backup. After upgrading to BE 2015 we cannot complete GRT restores of any of these servers due to insufficient space for staging the restore on backup server.

I would like to know if there is difference in the restore process between BE 2012 and BE2015. It seems that BE 2012 used to stage just the VHD that we wanted the GRT restore from, but BE 2015 wants to stage the entire VM before GRT restore. Is there an option to set the staging for BE 2015 to work the same as BE 2012? The option to expand the Backup server space involves some cost and possible downtime, which we did not foresee before upgrade.

In BE from installed updates section else check the updates for backup exec in control panel -> programs and features -> show updates. Apply FP4 if its not there. Update the remote agent on the host. Take a fresh backup and the try the restore

Is this BE 15 with FP4 ? If not, is it possible to patch BE to above feature pack and test the restore.

The install was done with live update and it shows as version 14.2.1180. FP 4 release notes was published on the 19 April 2016 which was the day of the install. How can I verify the FP.
