Ability to Read NTBackup Tapes

James_Livingood

We have installed Backup Exec 10.0 and are rolling it out to servers in the field. After it is loaded and has been completing backups, I'm having users that need to restore files created with old NTBackup Tapes. Several users tell me that they can not use NTBackup now that Backup Exec has been loaded. Any advice to be able to use the old tapes under the new configuration? Thanks a bunch for any help.

BackupExec should be able to read and restore NTBackup created tapes, since both products use MTF (Microsoft Tape Format) to write to tape.

Or you can have your users shut down all BackupExec services, and then use NTBackup to do the restore
