This deployment guide explains how to install and configure Symantec Storage Foundation and High Availability products on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems using the Yum package manager. Special focus is on the RHEL 6.4/6.5 version, as these require a multi-step installation process using Symantec’s Common Product Installer (CPI). Both RHEL 6.4 and RHEL 6.5 require an upgrade to the Storage Foundation 6.0.3 maintenance release and the installation of Veritas File System (VxFS) hot fix 6.0.300.300. (See TechNote 203099 and TechNote 214270.) 

Using YUM as described in this guide lets you install the Veritas Storage Foundation base product packages as well as all the necessary updates and patches from a central Yum repository in one step, without the need for multiple calls to the product installer.
